We had the opportunity to work with the 210 Vikings over the weekend. The Vikings are a new organization, and they are “officially” a division of the Patuxent Rhinos Football and Cheer, Inc.
We really like working with new clubs, despite the fact that most of the kids have
played the sport before, many of the volunteers are new to organized football and it’s nice to work with them before it’s all about “championships”.
Here’s a sneak peak at the shoot from the day..
If you are a Viking parent and your son is involved with any other sports, give us a call at 888-726-3336, Ext 3. We’d love to work with you. No organization is too big or too small.

We finished up the team and individual portraits for the Patuxent Rhinos tonight. After we ran out of daylight a few weeks ago I decided that we definitely wanted to photograph the remaining athletes indoors as well. I loved the look and it was a nice departure from what we typically produce.
Again, I used the Nikon SB-900 speed light as the main light (camera left), and in the third image there’s an additional SB-800 just off the players right hip lighting up the lockers. I love using Nikons Creative Lighting System to produce creative portraits like these.
Honestly, we feel this is what separates us from the “competition”. At the end of the day, isn’t this supposed to be about great pictures and great memories? When you partner with Contrast Photography, we take care of all that. Send us an email to see how other Organizations can benefit from working with us…

Todd and I have been wanting to shoot team pictures, specifically football or ice hockey, inside a locker room for years. Today I finally had my chance, as I chased the light outdoors until the very end and was forced inside with a full team left to shoot.
What do I do? That’s top secret and I’d have to kill you if I told you…but I LOVE the look of the green Rhino uniforms against the killer red lockers!!!
What do you think abut these portraits? I shot these with a single Nikon SB-900 speed-light to camera left. Next time I’ll see if I can drop in a hair light camera right, but I’m not sure if that would give me a better image than this. Nikon’s flagship SB-900 is a phenomenal tool!!! Yeah it’s a little expensive at $499 but well worth the investment. Combined with the Nikon D300, I can’t ask for a better system of which to make great images of all these kids.
Of course I have all these great ideas running through my head now!!
